Jesus by Eileen DiGiacomo (USA)

It took me a while to notice that in this image Jesus bears the crown of thorns and blood drips down his forehead. Unsurprising then that he looks so sorrowful.
But notice also the background. Are these the words of the law and the prophets? The words that he has come to fulfil?
Out of his anguish he shall see light;
he shall find satisfaction through his knowledge.
The righteous one, my servant, shall make many righteous,
and he shall bear their iniquities. (Isaiah 53: 11)
Thank you Jesus,
that in you I am made righteous,
and that you bear the weight
of all my iniquities.
Amen.
