About us

St Clare’s is a small and friendly inclusive church community, that offers a home to the spiritually seeking, to those who have wandered away from God, to those who never knew him and to those who have lost faith in the church.

We are SMALL. There are about 25 people who would say that they are part of St Clare’s community. There’s no formal membership though, you just come along on a Sunday and get to know us and be part of us.

We are ANGLICAN. St Clare’s is part of Coventry Cathedral, which is part of the Church of England, but our community includes people from other churches, and anyone is welcome to come and join of us on our journey, from any faith background or none.

We are DIVERSE. St Clare’s community includes people from a wide range of ethic and social backgrounds, members of the LGBTQ+ community, people with disabilities and neurodiversity.

We are YOUNG. There are people of every age at St Clare’s but the majority of our community are under 40 years old.

We are CHILDREN… well some of us. Our community includes children of all ages. Some of our Sunday services have a particular appeal to our younger members (click here for details of upcoming services), but all ages are welcome at all our gatherings.

We are IMPERFECT. None of us at St Clare’s thinks we have all the answers, or gets it right all the time. But by God’s grace we are trying together to walk towards healing and  wholeness and deeper understanding of one another.

And most importantly…

We are SEEKING to know more what it means to follow Christ and to grow his kingdom in our lives and in the places we work and study and live.

And finally…

You are WELCOME to come along and get to know us and see if St Clare’s might be the place for you. The St Clare’s Community meets for worship every Sunday at 12.00 pm.

If you want to know a bit more about how people have found themselves as part of St Clare’s, then have a read of these blog posts: I came back to God in a wetsuit and A Story of Coming and Going, led by Angels.

Our Leadership Team

The Revd Charlotte Gale and The Revd Naomi Nixon are the two ordained ministers at St Clare’s at the Cathedral. Between them they have over 40 years experience of ministry, and love being part of St Clare’s. Charlotte can be found in the shop at St Clare’s most days (Tues to Sat, 11 am – 4 pm), so you can just pop in for a chat. She’d love to see you. Naomi has another job during the week but she and Charlotte minister at St Clare’s together and are both there on Sundays.

Our Churchwarden is Evan, who is particularly good at doing the washing up on a Sunday, but also shares in the planning and leading of all aspects of our community life.
