This image of the risen Christ emerging from the tomb, clearing shows the suffering that he’s endured. His body is covered with wounds from being flogged. His head bears wounds from the crown of thorns, his hands and feet from the nails, and his side from the spear.
Resurrection doesn’t mean that all our sufferings just disappear. They are part of our story. But our suffering will be redeemed. Through Christ’s death and resurrection, we will enter into new life. Like Christ, we will bear the scars of our wounds, but not the pain. For he will wipe every tear away.
Risen Christ,
I pray that you heal my wounds
and redeem my suffering,
through your perfect love.
