The Good Shepherd, 19th Century
Look at this picture of Jesus portrayed as the good shepherd and us as his flock.
Where are you in the picture?
- Are you the lamb, held safe and secure in his arms, gazing at Jesus?
- Are you one of the sheep surrounding Jesus, looking towards him?
- Are you one of the sheep that is safely in the pen, but not really paying much attention to Jesus?
- Are you the sheep who has noticed the wolf, baying at the fence, and so feel anxious and afraid?
Spend a few moments reflecting on what this means.

As you are the Shepherd over the flock
tend us to the shelter and the fold,
bless us beneath your own glorious mantle,
be our Shield of protection, and guard us forever.My soul is in the trust of the High King,
