Lent, Day 6 (Tuesday)

Christ and the woman of Samaria, Horace Pippin, 1940

Look at this picture.

Notice the body language of Jesus and the unnamed woman.

Both are relaxed and at ease as they engage in conversation. They are leaning in to one another. Jesus is giving her his full attention.

Imagine yourself in the scene.

What would you ask Jesus?

What might he ask you?

Jesus offers the woman living water.

“Those who drink of the water that I will give them will never be thirsty. The water that I will give will become in them a spring of water gushing up to eternal life.“

What do you thirst for?

What is the living water you need?

Jesus,

I open my heart this day to receive you

and the living water that you offer.

Amen.
