Mary and Jesus, AI by Paulina
It’s Mary, and not Jesus who first strikes me as I look at this picture. She looks straight out, resolute, strong and regal. Nothing of the meek and tentative young woman that she is often portrayed as.
Her child echoes her pose, also strong and upright; even in the child we see something of the man he will grow up to be. Someone whose strength we can lean on, who will carry our burdens, who will stay by us, whatever life may bring.
Jesus, my strength and stay,
I choose to give to you this day my burdens.
The worries in my mind,
the people on my heart,
the concerns that feel overwhelming,
in the knowledge of your eternal love.
Amen.
